The "Laehli & the Elephants" series is a print-on-demand book series to keep upfront costs down. What this means, is that when a book is ordered, a book is printed. So, books are not warehoused somewhere waiting for your order. There are some important environmental benefits to not having a warehouse full of books just hanging out. The expense of ink, paper, etc. incurred by having books wasting away was another consideration of utilizing print-on-demand.
Again, books are printed when they are ordered. It is completely understandable that orders could be place in error. We do ask that before you order any book (not only ours) that you carefully consider if you really do want the book. It is understood that children do grow out of children's books, however, much good can be done by donating your children's' no longer wanted books to a hospital, nursery school, or other organization where children are present.
Returning print-on-demand books means that no book existed when you placed the order. Therefore you created the book when you ordered it. To have something created because you wanted it and then return it because you decided you really don't not only takes away royalties from an author, but it also means you have created trash. Those returned books are not donated, they are destroyed. So if you've returned a book rather than donating it elsewhere you have created trash. Congratulations. The world sure needs more trash, doesn't it? No? Then make sure you only order books you want. Or if you decide you don't, then donate the book to someone who can appreciate it.
